21 drug offenders nahatulan ng korte

MANILA, Philippines – Nasa 21 drug offenders ang nahatulan ng korte kabilang dito ang 16 na pinatawan ng habambuhay na pagka-bilanggo sa Makati City.

Sa report na isinumite kahapon ni Supt. Jaime Santos, hepe ng Makati Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC)  kay Makati City Mayor Romulo “Kid” Peña, ang 16 na akusado ay  nahatulan ng habambuhay na pagkabilanggo nina Judge Josephine Advento, Branch 135; Judge Gina Bibat, ng Branch  64 at Judge Edgardo Caldona, Branch 65, Makati City Regional Trial Court (RTC).

Samantala, ang lima namang akusado ay hinatulan naman ng 12 hanggang 15-taong pagkabilanggo.

Nabatid, na ang 23 akusado ay guilty sa kasong paglabag sa Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, under sections 5, 11, 13 in relation to 11).

Bukod sa habambuhay, pinagbabayad din ang 16 na akusado ng halagang tig P500,000 korte bilang danyos perswisyo.

Ang mga akusado namang nahatulan ng 12 hanggang 15-taong pagkabilanggo ay pinagbabayad naman ng tig P300,000.

Pinuri ni Peña at binigyan nito ng kredito ang naging operasyon ng MADAC laban sa mga taong sangkot sa ipinagbabawal na gamot.

“These recent convictions have given added impetus to our citywide campaign against illegal drugs. The city government and the people of Bagong Makati gratefully commend the hardworking men and women of MADAC who have worked on the ca-ses with unflagging diligence and perseverance,” ani Peña.
