MTRCB mourns Master Showman’s death
MANILA, Philippines – Officials and employees of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) joined the nation in mourning the death of comedian and television host German Moreno, often called the “Master Showman” and “Kuya Germs.”
“Aside from mourning, though, we celebrate his life, which was dedicated not only to entertaining the Filipino audience but also to forming young artists who would become the stars of tomorrow,” the MTRCB said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno said yesterday he is deeply saddened by Moreno’s death.
The vice mayor, whose real name is Francisco Domagoso, said he owes everything to Moreno.
“He is a big loss, not only to show business, but most especially to me. He was my second father in show business and outside show business,” he said.
The vice mayor said Moreno opened doors for him. He said talent manager Daddy Wowie Roxas discovered him at a wake and asked him to audition for a place in That’s Entertainment, Moreno’s defunct daily variety show.
At that time, he did not have any talent in dancing and singing, but Moreno “took a risk on me. That was the key for me to lift my family and myself from poverty.”
