MANILA, Philippines - A 49-year-old woman was shot dead in Barangay Tugatog, Malabon City Monday night.

Rowena Monasterial, a resident of Concepcion street, was standing along Tumarez street when a man, identified only as “Nono Negro,” approached her with a gun drawn at around 8:30 p.m., city police chief Senior Superintendent Severino Abad Jr. said.

Monasterial ran, but the man chased her and shot her. Abad said the victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the MCU Hospital.

Monasterial’s daughter, Edi Rose, said her mother had been receiving death threats over her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade in her neighborhood.
