465 nabbed in NCRPO anti-crime sweep

MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) arrested a total of 465 suspects in its “One-Time Big-Time” operation over the past week.

In a statement issued yesterday, the NCRPO said police officers seized 331 sachets of shabu in a series of anti-drug operations across Metro Manila.

The NCRPO also seized a total of 16 illegal firearms and 90 motorcycles it said were used in various crimes.

Meanwhile, the Southern Police District (SPD) bagged 133 suspects in its “One-Time Big-Time” operation last Friday.

The one-day operation “contributed to lessen the crime rates in hot spot areas,” SPD acting director Chief Superintendent Henry Rañola Jr. said.

He said the police officers in Pasay, Makati, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Taguig and Pateros and the SPD’s District Special Operation Unit were ordered to apprehend persons with standing warrants of arrest and violators of city or municipal ordinances; recover motorcycles and motor vehicles; confiscate firearms, drugs, drug paraphernalia and deadly weapons.

The SPD bagged the top drug traffickers in Pasay, Muntinlupa and Taguig, Rañola said.

Eighty-eight motorcycles and nine illegal firearms were also seized during the one-day operation, he added.
