Necrological rites for DepEd usec

MANILA, Philippines - A necrological service will be held tomorrow for Education Undersecretary for finance and administration Francisco Varela, who died in a motorcycle accident on Saturday.

Varela’s remains will be brought to the Department of Education (DepEd) office in Pasig City tonight.

Flags at all DepEd offices and public elementary and high schools will fly at half-mast.

Varela, 47, died when his motorcycle skidded on the main highway in Tanay and Baras towns. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Padilla District Hospital in Antipolo City.

Malacañang and DepEd condoled with the family of the undersecretary.
