Pedicab driver held for abusing toddler

MANILA, Philippines - A pedicab driver was arrested after reportedly hitting and pouring a pail of water on his two-year-old son in Barangay Concepcion, Malabon City yesterday morning.

Rowel Catalan, 24, was collared by barangay watchmen just before 8 a.m. after barangay clerk Rowena Legaspi sought their help when she saw the child being abused along Escanilla street.

Catalan told investigators that he became angry when the child defecated in the pedicab, which also serves as their home. 

He said he became prone to anger after his partner left him.
