Pagdilao is new NCRPO chief

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Superintendent Joel Pagdilao took over yesterday as chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), replacing Director Carmelo Valmoria who retired on July 16.

The appointment of Pagdilao was confirmed by Philippine National Police chief Director General Ricardo Marquez.

Pagdilao, 52, assumed the top NCRPO post in a ceremony at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig.

He took over as QCPD director in October last year after Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas relieved Chief Superintendent Richard Albano over the crime surge in the city.

Pagdilao and Albano are members of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1984.

Pagdilao, the younger brother of retired police general and now ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Samuel Pagdilao, had been with the QCPD since January 2011.

Prior to this, he was assigned to the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations in Southern Visayas.

New QCPD director

Chief Superintendent Edgardo Tinio, chief of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations in southern Luzon, will replace Pagdilao.

A source told The STAR that Tinio would take over as QCPD director today.

Mayor Herbert Bautista is expected to attend the turnover ceremony at the QCPD headquarters.

Tinio served as director of the Pampanga provincial police office in 2011 and chief of the directorial staff of the Highway Patrol Group.
