Pasay cop gunned down

MANILA, Philippines - A police officer was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding men along F.B. Harrison street in Pasay City Friday night.

Senior Police Officer 3 Delfin Macario, 49, was walking toward his car, a Mitsubishi Montero, at past 9 p.m. when two men on a motorcycle, both wearing helmets and carrying handguns, shot him then sped away, according to city police chief Senior Superintendent Melchor Reyes.

Macario, an operative of the city police’s Station Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group, was declared dead on arrival at the San Juan de Dios Hospital.               

Investigators are reviewing footage taken by surveillance cameras in the area.
