Magallanes interchange rehab 58% done – DPWH
MANILA, Philippines - The rehabilitation of the Magallanes interchange in Makati City is 58 percent complete, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said yesterday.
In a statement, DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson said most of the retrofitting work on the bottom slab is complete and what remains to be done are replacing the expansion joint for Stage 1 (Osmeña-Alabang), retrofitting on top slab for Stage 2 (Ayala to Roxas Boulevard) and asphalt overlay and replacement of expansion joint for Stage 3 (Alabang to Ayala).
The rehabilitation of the interchange, constructed in 1975, started last May and the DPWH has until February 2015 to finish the repairs.
The DPWH said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority allowed the agency to repair the interchange between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. on weekdays and ‘round the clock on weekends.
“While the Magallanes interchange is undergoing repair works, we encourage private motorists to voluntarily take alternate routes to reduce vehicles in the area,” Singson said.
