Boy, 13, hurt in gun accident

MANILA, Philippines - A 13-year-old boy accidentally shot himself with his own shotgun during a riot in Malabon City at past midnight yesterday.

Kenneth Leyona was passing time with a group of boys at the New Market when a group of teenagers, allegedly from Caloocan City, attacked them at around 1 a.m., according to a police report.

Leyona grabbed his improvised shotgun but it fired by accident, hitting him in the right hand. The gunshot scared off the attackers.

Leyona’s group brought him to the hospital.
