NBP doctor gunned down

MANILA, Philippines - A doctor assigned to the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) was shot dead Tuesday afternoon along the national road in Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa City.

Juan Villacorta, also a part-time doctor at the Alabang Medical Center, was shot four times by unidentified motorcycle-riding men at around 3:45 p.m., Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Jose Erwin Villacorte said.

Villacorta was rushed to the Alabang Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Deborah Jane delos Reyes.

Investigators are still trying to find out the motive for the attack.
