Helper gunned down in Malabon

MANILA, Philippines - A 42-year-old store helper was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in Malabon City at past midnight yesterday.

The victim, identified only as a certain Loreto, was shot in a neighborhood store in Barangay San Agustin at past 1 a.m., said Inspector Delta Navarra.

Citing a witness’ testimony, Navarra said a female companion of the gunman first arrived and purchased a softdrink and cigarette from the store.

Minutes later, the gunman arrived and shot the victim several times, killing Loreto on the spot.

The gunman and his female companion fled on board a motorcycle, said Navarra.
