Man shot dead in Navotas

MANILA, Philippines - Police are looking at illegal drugs as the possible motive in the killing of a man in Navotas early yesterday morning.

Residents of Plaza 33, Tumana, Barangay NBBS saw Gil Vergara, 34, being chased by three unidentified men before he was shot dead at 4 a.m., police said.

Witness Rommel Tragara said the suspects escaped after shooting Vergara several times.

Responding policemen recovered 12 empty shells of caliber .45 pistol from the scene.

Investigators said a botched drug deal could be the reason for the killing of Vergara.
