Makati offers free graduate studies to employees, teachers

Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Makati City government is offering free graduate studies to city hall employees and public school teachers in the city.

Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay said the free graduate studies have been offered at the city-owned and managed University of Makati (UMAK) since last year.

Binay said the special scholarship program under the Makati Consortium for Educational Scholars (MACES) of UMAK was implemented on the approval by the City Council with the passage of City Ordinance 2012-061 that exempts qualified city government workers and public school teachers from paying tuition for graduate programs in the UMAK’s College of Governance and Public Policy and College of Arts and Sciences and Education.

In order to qualify for the program, applicants with regular or casual status of employment should have rendered at least three years of continuous service with the city government or in any public school in the city.

Those interested in the programs may download forms for MACES at UMAK’s website, www.umak.edu.ph.
