Man with teardrop tattoo nabbed, charged

MANILA, Philippines - A 20-year-old man, who has a teardrop tattoo below his left eye, was charged Wednesday with theft for allegedly stealing a cell phone from a worker sleeping in the barracks of a construction site in Valenzuela City.

Kevin Castro was arrested along with a friend, Benhur Carolina, 20, after the colleagues of backhoe operator Joel Abendon, 34, saw them enter the site’s barracks on June 4.

Police officials in Camanava earlier said that they are monitoring men with teardrop tattoos for their alleged involvement in petty crimes.

Police records show that Castro and a 16-year-old boy were arrested in 2011 for allegedly raping two teenagers after a drinking session.
