QC gives incentives to honor students

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government has allotted more than P700,000 for financial incentives that will be given to students of public elementary and high school in the city who graduated at the top of their class last month.

Valedictorians will get P2,500; salutatorians, P1,500; and first honor awardees, P1,000.

Mayor Herbert Bautista ordered the division of city schools and the school board to coordinate the distribution of the cash incentives.

He also asked graduates of the city’s public high schools to take advantage of the city government’s scholarship program, which is open to the top 10 graduates of a school.

Beneficiaries of the city’s scholarship program get as much as P80,000 a year plus an annual stipend of P20,000, Bautista said.
