Textmates’ ‘eyeball’ turns violent; 1 killed, 1 hurt

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - An “eyeball” among a group of textmates turned into a tragedy when one of them was killed while another was injured by an unidentified suspect in Quezon City early yesterday morning.

An eyeball means meeting up among textmates for the first time.

Police have yet to identify the fatality described to be in his late 30s, medium built, and clad in blue shirt and black pants. He died on the spot from multiple stab wounds, according to Senior Police Officer 1 Eric Lazo.

Another victim, Steven Paul, 22, was stabbed when he tried to pacify the attacker. Paul was taken to the Quezon City General Hospital for treatment.

The suspect was among the six persons who approached the victims’ group past 4 a.m. in front of a bus terminal along Quirino Highway in Barangay Sta. Monica, Novaliches.

The victims were meeting up with their friends when the group of the suspect suddenly appeared and without any word, the attacker stabbed the unidentified victim repeatedly.

The suspect escaped on foot after the incident, leaving the bladed weapon he used in stabbing the two victims.
