Cop arrested over detainee’s escape

MANILA, Philippines - A policeman was arrested yesterday after a detainee he was escorting escaped after a court hearing Monday afternoon.

Police Officer 2 Dave Pamintuan is facing charges for evasion through negligence, specifically infidelity in the custody of prisoners. Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega said Pamintuan is also facing an administrative case for grave misconduct.

Dela Vega said efforts are ongoing to arrest Reynaldo Yumol, who is accused of malversation through falsification.

Pamintuan claimed he and Yumol stopped to eat at a restaurant after the court hearing, but Yumol put him to sleep before escaping.
