Shalani eyes Congress

MANILA, Philippines - Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad-Romulo is running for the city’s second district’s congressional seat.

Soledad-Romulo is expected to file her certificate of candidacy (COC) at the main office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Intramuros, Manila with Valenzuela City Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian, who is running for congressman in the city’s first district at around 2 p.m. today.

Soledad-Romulo, wife of Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo, is running under the coalition of the Nationalist People’s Coalition-Liberal Party.

Gatchalian’s brother, Rep. Rex Gatchalian will seek the mayoral post with Eric Martinez as his running mate.
