Lim gives cash aid to widow of traffic cop
MANILA, Philippines - Mayor Alfredo Lim yesterday gave financial assistance to widows of Manila police personnel, led by the widow of PO2 Jesus Lapuz, who was killed last June 13 by motorcycle-riding gunmen along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City.
The widows, accompanied by Manila’s Finest Retirees’ Association president retired Col. Franklin Gacutan, thanked the mayor for his continued support even if their husbands are no longer around.
Leading the recipients was Abigail Lapuz, widow of PO2 Lapuz.
Aside from cash aid, Lim also offered her a job at the City Hall to enable her to support her two children – a one-year-old girl and a six-month-old boy.
Lapuz was a former security escort of Lim and had been with the Manila Police District for the past 10 years.
