Lawyer slain at HLURB gates

MANILA, Philippines - A Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board employee was shot dead as he drove out of the office yesterday afternoon.

Lawyer Leonardo Jacinto Soriano was dead on arrival at the Philippine Heart Center, said Superintendent Michael Macapagal, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 9.

A gunman “waited” for Soriano at around 4 p.m. outside the gates of the government agency, then boarded a motorcycle driven by an accomplice, Macapagal said.

Investigators are still trying to find out the motive for his murder and the identity of his killers.
