Mall suicide victim mentally ill - police

MANILA, Philippines - The woman who jumped to her death from the third floor of a mall in Las Piñas City on Tuesday was mentally ill, a police official said yesterday.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Romulo Sapitula said the victim was identified by her son as Celedenia Aquino, 55.
The victim’s son, Alvin, told police that his mother has been suffering from mental illness.
Aquino climbed over the railing and attempted to pull a girl before leaping to her death. She landed on the ground floor. The victim was declared dead on arrival at the Las Piñas Medical Center.
“It was a case of suicide,” Sapitula said.
