Bank exec found dead in brod's condo unit

- Non Alquitran -

MANILA, Philippines - A bank executive was found dead in his brother’s condominium unit in Barangay San Antonio, Pasig City Wednesday, police said yesterday.

Union Bank financial executive Mark Oliver San Pascual, 30, visited his brother’s unit at the Corinthian Executive Regency Condominium Wednesday afternoon. The victim had been tasked to check on the unit while his siblings were in the United States, Pasig City police chief Senior Superintendent Jesse Cardona said.

San Pascual is listed as a resident of La Villa Eleganzia townhomes in Barangay Malamig, Pasig City. His widow told police she rushed to the condominium after her husband failed to answer repeated calls on his cell phone. She said she had to hire a locksmith after San Pascual failed to open the door despite her repeated knocking.

When the door was opened at around 9:35 p.m., the victim’s widow became hysterical when she saw her husband’s body. Responding policemen recovered a .45 caliber automatic pistol near San Pascual’s body, found lying on a sofa bed with a gunshot wound in the chest.

San Pascual did not leave a suicide note and his widow could not be interviewed because she is in a state of shock, Cardona said.

A neighbor claimed he heard the sound of a gunshot from the condo unit at about 5 p.m. Wednesday but did not bother to check since he was busy cooking dinner.

Cardona said they are still in the process of determining the motive behind San Pascual’s death.
