4 nabbed for breaking into cars
MANILA, Philippines - Four suspected members of a group believed to be behind a series of break-ins involving parked vehicles in Quezon City have been arrested, the Quezon City Police District (QPCD) said yesterday.
Harian Requilman, 27; Edwin Duanan, 27; Julius Batac, 18; and Ramoncito Tanay, 18, were caught in a drug bust conducted by the La Loma police station personnel, headed by Superintendent Lino Banaag. The group’s alleged leader – Angelo Manalang, alias Tarzan – escaped and is the subject of a police manhunt.
Banaag, in a report to QCPD director Chief Superintendent George Regis, said those arrested are the same persons identified as suspects who broke car windows to steal the contents of vehicles parked in the La Loma area.
A security officer at an establishment along Banawe street said he recognized the suspects as the ones who broke into the cars of his employer’s clients. The security officer also recognized two of four motorcycles seized from the group as the ones the suspects used in previous heists.
Police also seized six sachets of suspected shabu from the suspects, Banaag said.
