Man intervenes in domestic spat, gets killed

MANILA, Philippines - A man was stabbed dead when he tried to intervene in a fight between a friend and the latter’s wife in Quezon City Monday night.

Alan Boña, 31, and his partner, Jannest Perpuse, visited suspect Sanly Abello, 31, at his house in Barangay Tandang Sora. The two men have been friends for a long time, Inspector Elmer Monsalve, chief of the homicide investigation of the Quezon City Police District, said.

The three were already drunk when Abello’s wife, Neneng, arrived, also drunk. Abello and his wife started an argument, during which Abello took a kitchen knife and started cutting his wife’s hair.

Boña intervened and tried to stop the fight between the couple but Abello stabbed him in the face and chest.

Perpuse ran out and asked help from village watchmen, who arrested Abello.
