Makati to honor Shamcey Supsup with ticker-tape parade

MANILA, Philippines - Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay yesterday said the city will honor Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up Shamcey Supsup with a ticker-tape parade along Ayala Avenue upon her return to the country.

Binay said part of the ticker-tape parade is a visit to the Makati High School, where Supsup graduated salutatorian in 2003.

He said he has already written Stella Araneta, chairperson of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. regarding the planned welcome parade for Supsup.

“We are truly proud that Shamcey was a product of a Makati public school. Apparently, the city has not only produced outstanding alumni with scholastic achievements, but has also helped develop a world-class beauty queen,” he said.

Binay said Supsup was also a former exchange student to Japan and had been the school’s representative in various leadership seminars, apart from winning several beauty school competitions and being crowned “Lakambini ng Aklatan.”
