CIDG sacks cop for rape

- Non Alquitran -

MANILA, Philippines - A policeman belonging to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) was relieved and put under restrictive custody yesterday for allegedly raping a 34-year-old woman last Saturday.

CIDG chief Director Samuel Pagdilao Jr. said Police Officer 2 Joseph Inducil of the Quezon City Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (CIDT) was placed in the custody of Senior Superintendent Joel Napoleon Coronel, head of the CIDG-National Capital Region (NCR).

The CIDG chief also ordered a thorough probe of Inducil’s superior, Quezon City CIDT head Chief Inspector Jacob Macabale, after the victim said Macabale forced her to sign a deed of sale for her 2002 model Nissan Safari.

Pagdilao tasked Superintendent Emma Libunao, chief of the CIDG Women and Children Protection Office, to investigate the allegation against Inducil as he vowed that there would be “no whitewash” in the probe.

Pagdilao directed Libunao to facilitate a medical examination of the victim to establish whether she was really raped by Inducil.

Libunao said her office has started the investigation of the alleged rape last July 2 in a still unknown motel in Quezon City.

The victim told CIDG investigators that after Inducil raped her, she sought the help of a radio-television broadcaster to assist her in bringing her case to the authorities.

Macabale welcomed the probe as he denied the allegations against him, claiming that two female companions of the victim witnessed the signing of the deed of sale for the vehicle.
