Man stabs adopted son for cuckolding him

MANILA, Philippines -  A 45-year-old man from Tondo stabbed to death Monday a young man he raised as his own child after hearing rumors of an affair between his adopted son and his wife.

On Monday morning, Freddie Aklaw, a 26-year-old stevedore, was asleep under a parked truck along Juan Luna Street when Roel Roquero stabbed him to death. Aklaw was declared dead on arrival at the Mary Johnson Hospital with multiple stab wounds in the body.

Inspector Armando Macaraeg, chief of the homicide division of the Manila Police District, said Roquero peacefully surrendered when confronted at his house on Luna Street.

“I am really going to surrender. I just want to clear up my mind over the incident since I was totally at a loss on that fateful night,” Roquero said in an interview in his detention cell.

He said he raised Aklaw as his own son from childhood. The victim had always been a problem child who bullied him when drunk, and even beat up one of his own sons.

His patience with Aklaw snapped when rumors of his adopted son’s affair with his 38-year-old wife spread.        

“I was shocked. He even trespassed into my manhood. That was the time when I planned to finish him off,” he said. “I have no remorse. That’s his price for disrespecting the sanctity of our marriage.”
