1 dead in 3-vehicle smashup at NLEX

-

MANILA, Philippines - A man who had been signaling incoming vehicles to avoid his stalled sport utility vehicle was hit by a Manila-bound bus in a three-vehicle collision along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Valenzuela City Wednesday night.

Richard Briones, supervisor of the Traffic Control Center of the NLEX, said

Eleuterio Rosa’s Mitsubishi Pajero (RGA-734) developed engine trouble and stalled on NLEX’s Lane 3 near the Valenzuela exit when a Manila-bound ES Transport passenger bus (TXU-383) hit his vehicle.

An Isuzu dump truck (TDR-321) right behind the bus also hit Roda’s car.

Bus driver Romeo Comia said the victim did not have an early warning device for his vehicle. He surrendered to NLEX authorities and was later turned over to the Valenzuela City police.

Comia is being detained while police are preparing to charge him with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. – Jerry Botial
