4 robbery suspects killed in Taguig shootout

MANILA, Philippines - Four members of an alleged robbery gang were killed in an encounter with police officers along Bayani Road in Taguig City last night.

Superintendent Boyet Samala of the Southern Police District intelligence and operations unit said scene of the crime operatives are still in the process of identifying the suspects.

Initial report from the SPD said police conducted the operation along Bayani Road at The Fort at around 6 p.m. after receiving information that the suspects will pass through the area.

A team led by Chief Inspector Alan Umipig proceeded to the site. The suspects sensed police officers following them, and shot it out with pursuing lawmen.

Samala said the police is conducting a follow-up investigation of the incident.
