Taguig foots bill for students’ uniforms
The Taguig City government has allotted close to P35 million to be used in the purchase of uniforms of elementary and high school students from the city’s 32 public schools, and college students from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Taguig.
Taguig Mayor Sigfrido Tiñga said more than 120,000 public school and city university students in Taguig will each receive at least two sets of uniforms starting this school year, in addition to the free school supplies distributed to them annually.
“We want to ease the burden of parents in the rising cost of education. We believe that providing our students with free uniforms will be a great help to them and their families,” Tiñga said.
Each student will receive pre-cut fabrics good for three sets of upper garments (plain white blouse for girls, plain white polo for boys) and two sets of lower garments (skirts for girls and pants or shorts for boys). Parents will only have to bear the tailoring cost.
Aside from the free uniforms, the city government will distribute to the students free school supplies, in time for the opening of classes on June 10.
