Pregnant woman, husband shot in Quiapo

A pregnant woman died while her husband is said to be in critical condition after an unidentified gunman shot them in Quiapo, Manila yesterday afternoon.

The Manila Police District (MPD) said Mercy Bandao and her husband, Ismael, 29, were walking along Arlegui street near the area known as “Little Vietnam” when the suspect approached them and shot them in the head at around 3:15 p.m.

Bandao died on the way to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, where they were both rushed for treatment.

The MPD is set to conduct a thorough investigation to determine if the shooting is connected to the reported trade in illegal drugs in the area. – Evelyn Macairan
