Korean woman falls from condo unit

A Korean woman died after falling from her 18th-floor condominium unit in Malate, Manila early morning yesterday.

Investigators said Min Young Bu, a student of Dela Salle University, was declared dead on spot after landing head first on the pavement in front of the Baywatch Tower Condominium along M.H. del Pilar street.

Police invited for questioning Bu’s two student roomates, identified as Jeung Soon Yee and Mi Hue Joo. They occupied Room 1808.

In broken English, the two students told police they tried to prevent Bu from jumping from the balcony of their room at around 4 a.m.

The two students suffered bruises on their arms as a result of the struggle. They could not tell what prompted Bu to jump. All they told investigators is that Bu was having a hard time coping with her studies.

A Korean man who lives in a unit below Bu’s, Jung Min Chu, came upstairs to try to help Bu’s roommates prevent her from jumping, but Bu had already jumped when he barged in.   – Nestor Etolle
