Belmonte orders completion of 186 infra projects worth P1B

-
Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Jr. has ordered the city engineering department to finish the construction of the 186 infrastructure projects worth P1 billion bidded out in middle of this year and to prepare other projects to be bidded out for the first quarter next year.

In his order to city engineering department officer-in-charge Engr. Joselito Cabungcal, the mayor wants everything rushed during the dry season.

"Remember, that we are also rehabilitating the easement and drainage of every street that we improve," the mayor said.

Mayor Belmonte made the statements after the report of Cabungcal on the P1 billion infrastructure projects of the city government bidded out in the first and second quarters of this year during a regular executive staff meeting held at the Quezon City Polytechnic University building in Barangay San Bartolome, Novaliches.

In his report, Cabungcal said that of the 186 infrastructure projects, 51 have been finished, while the rest are almost finished. The projects include streets, health centers, school buildings, drainage, and bridges.

Belmonte said the city government is also building inter-neighborhood roads not for the benefit of a certain community, but for all city residents.

He said the city government has been negotiating with various subdivisions in the city, particularly in District 2 for the opening of inter-neighborhood roads, providing city residents short routes and traffic-free movement in adjacent barangays.

Cabungcal reported that the city government has constructed and rehabilitated eight four-storey school buildings with 18 classrooms and five school buildings for completion in time for the next school year.

These school buildings include the Sauyo Elementary School, San Bartolome High School, Balara Elementary School, Libis Elementary School, San Francisco High School, Batasan National High School, Lupang Pangako Elementary School, Payatas B Elementary School, Doña Juana Elementary School, Holy Spirit Elementary School, Holy Spirit Elementary School, and Doña Imelda Elementary School.
