Mandaluyong to hold job fair

-
The city government of Mandaluyong will hold another a mega job fair on Nov. 19 as part of the local government’s effort to continuously facilitate the employment of jobseekers in the city.

Emma Javier, officer-in-charge of the city’s Public Employment and Services Office (PESO), said the event aims to reduce the number of unemployed in the city, currently pegged at 7,872, but still among the lowest rate in Metro Manila.

Javier said they are targeting more than 1,000 jobseekers to be hired by 50 big companies that would participate in the event. The city’s previous job fairs resulted to the employment of some 3,284 jobseekers.

The event is the fifth mega job fair hosted by the local government through the effort of Mayor Neptali Gonzales II and the Green Ladies Movement (GLM), headed by the city’s first lady, Alexandria "Queenie" Gonzales.

"People of Mandaluyong are able, skilled and knowledgeable individuals and I believe that through this mega job fair many will be hired and we will be able to lower the number of unemployment in the city. This effort will greatly help the national government in its effort to give more jobs to Filipinos," Mrs. Gonzales said.

The affair will be held on Nov. 19 at the city gymnasium from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Interested applicants must bring their resume along with their 2x2 photos as requirements for assessment of the prospective employers.

Among the available positions are service crew, administrative jobs, call center agents and others.

Partner organizations in the job fair are the SM chain of malls, Rustan’s, Dunkin’ Donut, Nestle, Magoo’s Pizza, Toyota (Shaw), Tokyo Tokyo, Unilever, People Based Call Center, E-Telecare, Pagoda and other top companies.
