Napolcom approves new names for police districts

The National Police Commission (Napolcom) announced yesterday that it has approved the renaming of the Central Police District (CPD) and the Western Police District (WPD) to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and the Manila Police District (MPD), respectively.

Napolcom chairman and Interior and Local Government Secretary Angelo Reyes said the commission en banc approved the change of names based on the recommendations of Philippine National Police (PNP)) chief Director General Arturo Lomibao and then National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Deputy Director General Avelino Razon Jr.

Napolcom Vice Chair Imelda Roces said the renaming of the CPD hopes to bring back the old glory of the Quezon City Police Department, which was created to serve residents of the locality.

She said the same idea applies to the WPD which used to be known as the Manila Police Department .
