QC’s Belmonte enjoys overwhelming lead

Quezon City re-electionist Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. continues to enjoy a comfortable margin over main rival Ismael Mathay Jr. in the race for the city’s top post.

Based on partial and unofficial count of election returns in 5,806 precincts as of 5 p.m., Belmonte has received 592,599 votes over Mathay’s 164,285.

These election returns represent 96 percent of the 5,989 precincts in Quezon City’s four districts.

Incumbent Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista, Belmonte’s runningmate, continues to dominate the race for the city’s second highest post against rival and fellow actor Dingdong Avanzado.

Bautista has garnered 645,975 votes in four districts while Avanzado is second at 90,397 votes, according to the same figures.

In the first district, Belmonte received 113,675 votes compared to Mathay’s 34,741. Bautista had 125,794 as against Avanzado’s 18,852.

In the second district, 300,381 votes went to Belmonte while Mathay had 67,109. Bautista received 321,901 votes to Avanzado’s 37,362.

Votes in the third district showed Belmonte ahead with 75,715 over Mathay’s 26,199. Bautista got 84,095 and Avanzado, 14,140.

Belmonte again leads Mathay in the fourth district with 102,828 to 36,236. Bautista had 114,185 against Avanzado’s 20,043.

Meanwhile, the leading candidates vying for council seats in the first district are: Herrera-Dy (85,654); Delermante (84,030); Ferrer (78,112); Calalay (69,469); Abesamis (67,162); Juico (55,498); Sioson (44,139); Diño (39,278); Pleyto (35,361); Francisco (32,344).

In the second district: Castelo (248,851); Melendez (228,086); Medalla (214,297); Liban (202,446); Medina (171,172); Francisco (150,244); Defensor (130,018); Serrano (119,631); Saludes (47,974); Franco (42,125).

In the third district: Banal (63,941); Pumaren (60,838); De Guzman (58,052); Coseteng (56,104); Sotto (55,401); Lagumbay (51,974); Borres (31,785); Dario (29,104); Adriano (22,584); Monasterio (19,104).

In the fourth district: Lagman (86,946); Inton (86,599); Montilla (83,589); Malaya (83,276); Malangen (66,498); Hipol (66,013); Rillo (56,681); Mathay (46,878); Delfinado (27,277); Sicat (21,651).
