QC to host Earth Day Jam

-
The Quezon City government will play host to the staging of "Earth Day Jam 2004" — a musical street party highlighting this year’s observance of the Earth Day celebration on Friday.

Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. directed the Department of Order and Safety to prepare a traffic re-routing scheme to ensure the orderly flow of traffic for the duration of the event, which will be held along Tomas Morato Avenue at 7 p.m. onward.

Belmonte ordered the deployment of additional traffic enforcers during the event. Aside from portions of Tomas Morato, traffic will also be closed on Scout Lascano, Scout Delgado and the corner of Scout Torillo and Scout Tuazon.

The city government will be working closely with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles.

Environment Secretary Elisea Gozun has cited the city government for the support it has extended in organizing Earth Day Jam 2004.

"The support provided by the Quezon City government is testimony of the city’s commitment to support the DENR in its vision to raise the people’s awareness and concern for Mother Earth. — Perseus Echeminada
