2 dead in Pasay robbery

Police are now hunting two suspects tagged in the gruesome death of a woman and her two-year-old son in Pasay City the other night.

The suspects, identified as Ken Botana and Chavy Hernandez, both of Cavite, allegedly killed Alma Tautau and her son Dave Albert after the former, both nephews of the mother’s live-in partner, had been welcomed into the home as guests, police said.

Prober SPO2 Nanilone Francisco said Salvador Curay, a family driver, arrived home at around 11:30 p.m. to find his live-in partner dead inside the bathroom of their residence at Unit 18 of Zephyr Homes in Malibay.

Curay told probers he had a feeling that something was wrong when he discovered the door was left open and the television and radio turned on.

Crime scene investigators, led by Inspector Elizalde Odi, said the mother sustained one stab wound in the body. The suspects also slit her throat.

The boy, on the other hand, was strangled as shown by marks in his neck.

Police said the motive was robbery as the suspects took the woman’s wallet containing $150 and P3,000 in cash.

Curay told investigators that the suspects were his nephews who had been staying at their place while on vacation. He later told police he would do everything to help lead to the arrest of the suspects.

In Malabon, a 52-year-old bachelor died on the spot after he was stabbed and shot dead by two male assailants as he tried to pacify two feuding women in their neighborhood last Monday night in Malabon.

Mamerto Macedo, truck helper, of Mangustan Road, Potrero, Malabon, died while being taken to the Our Lady of Fatima Medical Center in Valenzuela City. The suspects, identified as Nilo Sarabia, 39, single, and an alias "E.T.," both of Rivera street, Potrero, Malabon, are still at large.

Police said the incident occurred at around 10 p.m. along University Avenue, Potrero, Malabon City. The victim allegedly tried to appease Rosalinda Mora and Melinda Molinao, neighbors who were quarreling in the street. "ET" allegedly appeared from nowhere with a knife in his hand and stabbed the peacemaker in the abdomen. Macedo was still able to run but dropped to the pavement a few meters away from the crime scene. At this point, however, Sarabia allegedly came into the picture, this time with a handgun of still unknown caliber and pumped two bullets into the victim making sure he would not live before fleeing.– With Jerry Botial
