Cops identify killer of courier company exec

- Bebot Sison Jr., Cecille Suerte Felipe -
A 30-year-old man was identified by the police as the gunman in the murder of an official of a courier company last Saturday in Parañaque City.

Superintendent Ronald Estilles, local police chief, said he already dispatched a police follow-up team to locate and apprehend Dodi Ceriaco, with last known address in Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City, after a witness identified him as the killer of Alex Rivera, 45, an official of the TNT Forwarding Service.

The witness, taxi driver Reynaldo Cristobal, was able to pinpoint Ceriaco from their photo gallery of suspected criminals.

Estilles said the suspect was responsible for a string of robbery incidents. If captured, he will not be able to post bail because he could be tried for murder, a non-bailable offense. "We believe that the suspect is still here in Metro Manila."

Initial investigation showed that at around 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, Rivera withdrew P256,000 from the automated telller machine of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) along Sucat Road, Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City.

As he was boarding his motorcycle, the suspect allegedly announced a heist and tried to take his backpack, but the victim ran away reportedly prompting the suspect to shoot him five times using a caliber .45 pistol.

The victim, however, still managed to flag down a passing taxi cab driven by Cristobal and was brought to the Parañaque Medical Center, where he was declared dead upon arrival.
