FEU dean denies leakage in exams

-
The Far Eastern University (FEU) denied yesterday allegations that university officials have leaked answers to 11 students who took the controversial comprehensive exams under an expanded five-year curriculum.

"That is not at all true," said Andres Bautista, dean of the FEU Institute of Law.

Bautista said the results of the three-day examinations will bear the university out. "In fact, some of those who took the exams failed but I am not of liberty now to say exactly how many of them and who they are."

A big majority of the university’s 233 graduating accountancy students sued the school to stop it from requiring them to take the examinations. On Monday, the militant group Sanlakas, which has taken up the cudgels for the protesting students, presented to media a 21-year-old student who said a member of the Board of Examiners has given her the answer key to the examinations.

Bautista described the allegation "outrageous," adding that "it is utterly baseless." He said the charge is merely an unsubstantiated rumor and that the university refuses to dignify it with an investigation. – Romel Bagares
