Group to help solve Mandaue traffic woes
CEBU, Philippines – In an effort to solve its traffic problems, Mandaue City has tapped radio communicators.
Mandaue City welcomed the Regional Communications Network or Recon-Zugbo in Mandaue City, a group of 30 radio communicators, to help it solve and maintain cleanliness, traffic, peace and order in the city.
Their founder, also Centro Barangay Captain Ian Cortes, recently made a commitment to Mayor Jonas Cortes when the group paid him a visit in his office.
Under their agreement, the group will deploy themselves every Monday and Friday during peak hours on main thoroughfares of the city to assist traffic enforcers in terms of communication.
The group will also take charge in manning the sidewalks from illegal vending and littering.
Their areas of concern are S.B. Cabahug, B. Ceniza, Zamora and P. Gomez, which are near the City Hall.
"We want to be part of the solution to the city's problems," said the village chief.
He said their radios will also be a big help if other communication lines fall down.
For his part, Mayor Cortes admitted that illegal vendors are everywhere and illegal activities are happening within the abandoned old public market. Hence, he welcomed the group to help the city. (FREEMAN)
