Security guard stabbed to death

CEBU, Philippines - A 34-year-old security guard was stabbed to death outside a videoke bar near the Gate 4 of the Mactan Economic Zone at Barangay Ibo, Lapu-Lapu City at 11 p.m. Thursday.

Homicide investigators identified the victim as Rogelio Caba, security guard of Centur Agency who was assigned to the cargoes area of an airline company in the city.

Police Officer 3 Luisito Ernie of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office- Homicide Section said Caba, a resident of Sitio Commonwealth in Barangay Ibo, first had a drinking spree with two companions, Alvin Maano and Joey Brane.

Caba and his two friends decided to go home after the drinking session, but when they passed by the videoke bar, he reportedly got into an argument with an unidentified man in the area.

When Caba walked past the bar, the man reportedly appeared from behind and immediately stabbed the former on the chest. The assailant immediately left the scene.

Ernie said Caba was rushed to the Mactan Doctor’s Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. His body will be subjected to an autopsy, the police said.

The police are now conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the identity of the suspect. — (FREEMAN)
