Jose P. Sollano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – The municipal government of Consolacion and a company operating inside Mactan Export Zone Phase I in Lapu-Lapu City have signed a memorandum of agreement to conduct training and provide employment to out-of-school youths and residents of the town.

The agreement was signed by Mayor Teresa Alegado who represented the town and Kim Francisco, a manager of Metro Wear Inc based in Lapu-Lapu City.

Metro Wear, a domestic corporation, is a company engaged in apparel manufacturing for export needing and requiring the services involving work or skills directly related to its sewing business and operations including probationary work.

Under the agreement, the company will lend its sewing machines for the skills training to be conducted at the facility of Consolacion for a duration of one year.

The agreement provides that the town will send and provide Metro Wear skilled personnel or trainer/s to do calibration training and enhance the knowledge and skills in accordance with the company standards.

It further says that the trainees and trainers will be given technical know-how in all aspects of the training to determine the competency and skills of the trainees.

The qualified graduates or trainees will then be exclusively endorsed by the local government unit for assessment or possible employment.

Upon the completion of the training with the LGU, their graduates/trainees will be subjected to employment screening, trade testing and evaluation.

Consolacion has also agreed to endorse 25 trainees every month to Metro Wear.
