Girl attempts to kill self

CEBU, Philippines- A 20-year-old girl who works as an on-the-job trainee in a hotel in Barangay Punta Engaño attempted to hang herself in Sitio Soong 1, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City Sunday evening reportedly because of depression.

According to Special Police Officer 2 Manolito Abellanosa and Police Officer 2 Jomar Florentino of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office - Homicide Section, the incident happened around 9 in the evening.

As narrated by the victim's sibling, while they were at home together with their family, they saw the victim inside her bedroom all alone, strangling herself with the use of a nylon.

The family immediately helped the girl and was immediately rushed in Mactan Doctors' Hospital.

According to the responding police, the victim was reported to have a live-in partner.

Manolito said the victim found out that she was pregnant while his lover found a job outside the country which has possibly led to her depression.

The girl was in stable condition as of press time yesterday but was still housed in the hospital to seek further medical attention.
