Lapu’s Barangay Pajo releases jingle to draw more visitors

Jose P. Sollano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  Barangay Pajo in Lapu-Lapu City recently released its jingle whose primary purpose is to promote the barangay and to attract more visitors.

Pajo Barangay Captain Junard "Ahong" Chan told The FREEMAN that in their little way of promoting the barangay, they were able to come up with the jingle which they uploaded in the social networking sites.

Chan and R.C. Martinez composed the lyrics of the jingle while Martinez gave it the tune. The jingle was arranged by Elvis Somosot and performed by a local singing group "Rikardo."

According to Chan, the jingle "Pajo Ako, Pinangga Ko" shows the good places to visit in the barangay, as well as the big malls, big companies and entertainment joints that can accommodate visitors and tourists.

Chan said that one way of attracting visitors is to show them what they can expect to see in the barangay. Pajo is one of the 30 barangays in Lapu-Lapu City that has launched this kind of initiative at the barangay level.

The barangay boasts of its guitar shops that can be found at the foot of the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge. Lapu-Lapu City is well renowned for its guitars.

The Mactan Benito Ebuen Air Base, the home of the Philippine Air Force, is also located in Barangay Pajo.

Last month, the barangay was adjudged as best performer in the health and sanitation in Central Visayas by the Department of Health, making it to qualify for the national awards.

Chan, a former city councilor, said that it is his dream to introduce changes in Barangay Pajo and to improve the delivery of basic services to the people.  (FREEMAN)
