CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City Council has asked the provincial government for armchairs for some public elementary and high schools.

Councilor Danilo F. Caballero said 15 public schools need at least 800 armchairs.

He said public schools must be monitored by the local government.

“Some of the chairs of this public institution are already ruined,” Caballero said.

Caballero has asked provincial board member John Peter Calderon, who is the chairman of the committee on education, for armchairs for Bulacao Elementary School in Bulacao, Biasong Elementary School in Biasong, Candulawan Elementary School in Candulawan, Lagtang Elementary School in Lagtang, San Isidro Elementary School in San Isidro, Tanke Elementary School in Tanke, Talisay City National High School in Poblacion, Tabunoc Central School in Tabunok, San Roque Elementary School in San Roque, Maghaway Elementary School in Maghaway, Manguilamon Elementary School in Jaclupan, Linao Elementary School in Linao, Mohon Elementary School in Mohon, Lawaan1 Elementary School in Lawaan I, and Borromeo Brothers Elementary School in Cansojong.

“It is the policy of the State to protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality basic education and to make such education accessible to all by providing all Filipino children a free and compulsory education in the elementary level and free education in high school level,” Caballero said. (FREEMAN)
