Luigi now a Lt. Colonel

CEBU, Philippines - Sixth district Rep. Gabriel Luis Quisumbing has been donned the rank of lieutenant colonel by the AFP Reserve Force of the Naval Reserve Command (NAVRESCOM).

The donning of rank was presided by Commander Jesus C. Millan, commander of the Naval Reserve Command, Capt. Noel  De Vera, deputy commander, NAVERS COM, Benjamin Espiritu, commander of the 7th Marine Brigade Reserve, and Capt. Rodrigo Mejia, acting commander, NCR NVAL Forces.

“I am very honored to accept this position and commit to the duties of a reservist in service to our country. I especially want to promote an active role for reservists in responding to calamities and disaster risk reduction,” Quisumbing said.

Prior to his commissionship as lieutenant colonel, the legislator was active in the Reservists as a sergreant major and was designated at the 82nd Marine Reserve Battalion, Philippine Marine Corps.

He was also awarded a military merit medal for meritorious and valuable services rendered as officer of the 82nd Marine Battalion Reserve in support of the conduct of Humanitarian Assistance Operations of the Philippine Navy.

He was also cited by NAVRESCOM for his leadership in providing assistance to different evacuees directly affected by tropical storm Sendong in Cagayan de Oro City from December 29, 2011 to January 2,2012.
