Delicacy center in Mandaue opens
CEBU, Philippines - Even with only a handful of sellers, the “Garbo Sa Mandaue Delicacy Center,” located at corner Suson Street and A.O del Rosario Street, yesterday opened for business.
Delicacy vendors now have the opportunity to leave the sidewalks where they peddle their goods and transfer to the center.
Stalls at the center were donated by Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines.
The lot where the center stands is owned by actress Caridad Sanchez and is leased to vendors at P15,000 a month. The contract is good for one year.
Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede, who attended the soft opening with representatives from the non-government organization Taga-Mandaue Inc., said the stall holders at the center can transfer to the old market when its renovation is completed a year from now.
It is the city’s objective to make the market a one-stop shop for possibly all commodities, including delicacies, he said.
“Ako lang sang hangyo sa mamaligyaay nga pakubsan ilang presyo aron maila sad sila sa tawo ug dugokon ning lugara,” Bercede said. (FREEMAN)
