Tricycle driver stabbed, assailant arrested

CEBU, Philippines - A tricycle driver while buying cigarettes from a convenience store was stabbed by a neighbor Monday in barangay Opao, Mandaue City.

Rod Roliorata, of legal age, went straight to the Opao police station to seek help.

He told police that neighbor Felipe Igot, 51, appeared at the store and stabbed him once on his stomach.

Police immediately arrested Roliorata’s assailant.

Opao Police chief P/Insp.Stephen Amamag-id said the assailant had alleged that prior to the stabbing Roliorata had dared him to a fistfight.

The assailant is now detained at the Opao police station pending the filing of a frustrated murder case against him. - THE FREEMAN
